1st XI

On Saturday we welcomed Heckmondwike & Carlinghow to Jeffrey field in what was previewed on the league website as the game of the day. After deciding to toss Heckmondwike & Carlinghow surprisingly won (i have a horrendous toss record this season) and decided to have a bat on what looked like a great Ardsley wicket with lightning fast outfield. What followed for the next 30 minutes though was carnage as one by one the Heckmondwike & Carlinghow batsman threw their wickets away trying to get after the Ardsley bowling. At 29-7 they were in great trouble with opening bowlers Dave Battye (9-3-26-5) and Scott Mullins (7-4-18-2) doing all the damage. A slight revivial from Heckmondwike & Carlinghow was seen but Mark Heald (3.2-1-4-2) came on wrap the innings up and bowl Heckmondwike & Carlinghow out for 72. After the best teas in the league Ardsley set about chasing down the score. Jake (12) and Kevon added 36 for the opening wicket when Jake fell. When Kevon (55*) was joined by Mo they quickly set about chasing down the score in under 16 overs to give Ardsley a full 20 point victory and open up a 31 point lead at the top of the table. Another super performance by Ardsley to cement our place at the top of the league with the chasers grouping up behind.
